An Ode to the Legends
Football is more than a sport for me, it's a way of life. As years passed by, new talents emerged, fantasy football evolved and Leicester City won a damn fairytale title. But, I gradually realised that the golden generation of footballers, who I grew up watching, were hanging up their boots season by season. Earlier this year, a number of astounding performances for D.C. United earned Wayne Rooney his final cap for the England National Team.
Well, it was time for a little throwback. These illustrations were made as part of a sketchoff series in collaboration with Sudarshan Devadoss, a fellow design student and friend.
While the fans around us sang the names of Kylian Mbappe, Jadon Sancho & Marcus Rashford, it felt necessary to remind them of the legends who had been there and done that. We truly miss our generation of footballers and we managed to recall a handful of that league of masters.
